Assistant Teacher (Ages 2–6)
Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week
Topsail Montessori is seeking a warm, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classroom serving children ages 2–6. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values respectful and nurturing education, and is excited to grow within a Montessori environment.
As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to help create a calm, engaging, and supportive classroom where children can develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher in preparing and guiding Montessori lessons and classroom activities
- Foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and practical life development through positive daily interactions
- Help maintain a peaceful, safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
- Assist with classroom setup, material preparation, transitions, and daily routines
- Observe and support each child’s individual growth and independence
- Encourage respectful communication, concentration, and cooperation within the classroom community
- Model kindness, patience, and professionalism in all interactions with children and families
Qualifications
- Experience working with children ages 2–6 preferred
- Positive, patient, and energetic attitude
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dependable, organized, and willing to learn
- Interest in or commitment to Montessori philosophy and practices
- Completed North Carolina background check
- Desire to pursue Montessori training and professional growth
